As of today I have decided to make my journal friends only. If you would like to be on this list, please comment.
This is happening because of the very real fact that future employers can see what is put here (and other websites such as facebook). It's happened to me, so I'm limiting public access to these sites. EDIT:Basically if you're not already on my friend's list, or if you think you aren't you can comment and I'll make sure you are. Everyone who already is a friend is in!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Life is going allright.
I'm really tired, so I'm going to try to do a proper update, but I'll prolly forget something interesting. I was on duty last night for the first time. Wow, is that boring. I know I prolly shouldn't complain that duty is boring because that means I'm not dealing with idiot people, but I really didn't like having to stay up so late. On the other hand I had a good time playing DDR for the first time in the 1st floor lounge. And Jenna bought me some sushi and a pink/orange rose. I love it! I'm on duty again tomorrow night until 2.30 am. I'm not really looking forward to that, but oh well. It's the first official weekend back and I really hope people are not going to be doing too much partying, or if they are that they'll keep it in their rooms where I dont have to see it!! I ended up droping my Personal and Social Change class. I found out that my Independent Study is going to count for a SOAN class, so I dont really need to take it if I'm doing the IDS, plus it was going to be a lot of reading that I wouldn't want to do. Speaking of a lot of reading, my Social Theory class is crazy with dense, uncomprehensable reading. I really hope I do well in the class discussions even though I haven't understood the readings so far. I hate that I cant understand things. It makes me feel like an idiot, and I'm not. Women's Health Issues is gonig to be an exciting class. I really think I'm going to like that class. Those are the only 2 'real' classes I'm taking. I have 12 credits total with the Independent Study and then I'm getting 1 credit for the CHAOS TA position. I am thinking that I'm not going to go to all of the FYE classes. There is really nothing for me to do since Sarah is the academic TA. I did the coolest thing today. I posed nude for the Life Drawing class. I was a little nervous at first, but after a while I was really enjoying just being naked!! I go back again on Tuesday. Good times! I'm so tired, and I cant figure out why. I dont think it was because I was on duty last night but that's the only thing I can think of. Errrr.... Oh well. I hope everyone's first week is going well and that you all have a good weekend. I just helped make history yesterday!!
I went with a bunch of Guilford folks to the March for Women's Lives, and it was the best thing I've ever done!! I felt so awesome and empowered being there. Hearing the speakers, and seeing what I could of 1 million + people marching for women's rights!!! We left un-godly early, and I kinda slept on the ride up. Got there and took the Metro to the Mall. We got some posters and bought some buttons and stickers and such, and then found a nice place on the Mall to sit down and listen to the speakers. They were amazing!! So many powerful words!! We left for the actual marching part at about 12.30 and walked for about 2 hours. It was awesome!! After we got back to the Mall we sat down again in front of a big screen and watched the other speakers and performers. AnnaMalia and I went for a walk after we had been sitting for a while to get food and look for more stickers and buttons and when we were walking I noticed that there were still people just getting back from the March!! They kept saying all day that people were still ariving and they were trying to count everyone (I'm sure that was really hard!!) They announced and estimate of 1,150,000 people!!! The biggest march in history!!!!!!!!!!!! I called my mom to let her hear some of it and then I called my grandma. My grandma wasn't happy at first, she couldn't figure out who was calling her and making a bunch of noise in her ear!! She was like "Who the hell is this?!" before I was finally able to tell her that it was me! I called her today and she was so glad I had thought to call her and share it with her. She watched the whole thing on TV yesterday, but she really enjoyed hearing it on the phone, once she figured out what it was! :o) I had the best time ever, and am soooo sleepy!! It was AMAZING!!! OK, so I just switched my wall calendar over to April, since tomorrow is April, and then wrote the due dates of my 3 projects on it. Do the rest of you realize that there is just 1 month left of school?? It didn't hit me until I saw that everything is due this month, and the reason is that school is almost over!!!
You guys prolly think I'm nuts, but, wow! Where has this semester gone? I'm very excited about this summer, so dont get me wrong, I'm glad it's almost over!! I should be working on my paper now. I opened it up tonite to find to my suprise that I had started it a week or so ago and I had a really awesome intro paragraph. So now I'm trying to write the paper with that intro, because I think it rocks. BTW: Thank you to everyone who has filled out my surveys for my classes, you guys are awesome!! I want it to warm back up!! I hate this cold rainy weather!!!! We just got back from the beach in Flordia. I had so much fun with Jenna and her family. We stayed in this really cute little house right on the beach. It was awesome!! I brought so many shells back from the coast. I love shells and sand and stuff. I walked in the water and we saw dolphins when we got there on Sunday and earlier today. They were really close to the coast! I had so much fun playing in the sand. He he he. Jenna told me I looked like a little kid playing at the beach. Oh, I prolly did. We went to a really good seafood restaurant the first nite and then last nite we went to a local place and had really good hamburgers. I've been getting really good food down here. Not really looking forward to going back to eating in the caf.
I'm almost ready to go back to school. To see the people mostly, I'm not really interested in the schoolwork. No homework!! But guess what!! I called my mom this morning and she said she got a letter from Guilford telling me that I made Dean's List!!! How cool is that!! I'm so proud of myself! The only thing that has sucked about the last few days is that I've had a cold. I hate being sick! Sniff sniff! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
